Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge {day 9}

I’m joining Brunch with Amber and A Complete Waste of Makeup for their Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge.

Today’s topic?  2012 goals

I’m terrible at resolutions.  I mean, I’m really good at making them.  But then January 2nd rolls around and I’m all “I give up.”

But here are a few goals I really do intend to achieve in 2012

  • Run a half marathon {and not come in last}
  • Learn to drive a stick shift.  I mean, what if the zombie apocalypse happens and the only getaway car I can find is a stick and I don’t know how to drive it?  I can’t let that happen
  • Read 50 books
  • Become a bona fide published writer
  • Lose between 20 and a bazillion pounds {let’s just see how I feel after 20}
  • Completely de-clutter the house.  I really don’t want my television debut to be on Hoarders

Do you set resolutions for yourself?

  1. Love your post… you have inspired me to do the same!!! And see that we have a lot in common, because I too generally give up on Jan 2nd!! LOL!!! Blessings, Carla

  2. lord. resolutions! i have a whole site dedicated to ongoing resolutions. the OCD in me will no longer let me wait till the new year, so i’ve started my list already. and i’m “kind of” working on it. :) you are going to do awesome! can’t wait to hear about each of those 50 books. i’m always up for a good read!

  3. I’m with you on the loose weight–I’ve jusrt in the past few months started going to a trainer-so I have NO REASON to quite by Jan2 =)
    I’d also like to declutter—but with all the toys the kids get I’d have to clear out the house now. I LOL with your last quote” I really don’t want my television debut to be on Hoarders!”

  4. Visiting here from vB. Congratulations on being a vB featured member!
    LOVE your 2012 goals!!! Many of them are mine also (probably 99% of the female population also). I love your sense of humor and your writing. :)
    I hope you’ll have a chance to stop by my blog: http://www.viviankirkfield.wordpress.com and my author website: http://www.positiveparentalparticipation.com
    I’ll be back for sure!

  5. First of all: LMAO at the last one!! We are prepping our house to get it on the market, and it is amazing how much CRAP we have accumulated in the last 12 years. And how much crap we moved into our basement from our condo and never.even.opened the boxes. How sad!

    Love your post today! Stopping by from Voiceboks! Hope it is a great day!

  6. I make goals, but as far as keeping them is concerned…I usually forget what my goals were by February 1 :)

    Stopping by from VoiceBoks!

  7. I’m all about making goals for the year. Love it!

    And I love your list. Because it’s true. What if the only thing that stands between you and certain zombie-inflicted doom is a manual transmission??

  8. Hi hon! Visiting from Voice Boks (love that group!) – I like your banner – fun!

    I used to be hard core and write down all of my resolutions. Now, I just give it some thought and that is about it b/c most of the time, the resolutions don’t last long – I more try to set overall goals for myself.

  9. following from VB :) and voted for ya
    I don’t do resolutions but it doesn’t take long to learn stick ;) I learned 2 yrs ago in a parking lot and was on the highway in half an hour :) GL

  10. I just wrote a very similar blog today. The zombie apocalypse part cracked me up. I hope you reach your goals. You can read my goals over at http://www.julesmpg.com

    Visiting from Vboks and a new follower.

  11. Oh Wow,I really love your post. I did something similar the other day, topic wise, but I wish I had started with you gals and done the whole Challenge. But anyway. I love from your post that I too want to be a published writer and loose from 20 to a gazillion pounds and want to declutter my home. LOL. But this year I am going to put some resolutions that are easier to follow.
    1. I will re-structure my Blog to be more educational
    2. I will exercise. (Right now my exercise routine is NON-Existent)
    3. I will continue to educate myself about Social Media and how to be a better person.
    4. Have more fun!

  12. I totally SET resolutions. And that’s about all I have to say about that. Maybe 2012 will be the year I actually follow through?

  13. I’m with you on the pounds. I also am a leto check off deck utter. I finally cleaned my backyard before all the snow I hope we don’t get. Looking forwards to hearing about your marathon and book ;) I can scratch that off too.

  14. 1. BloomersIsland.com will make a sale. One sale. Any sale. Then enough sales through the online game, online store and the Bloomers! Schoolyard Program that I will be able to make a living from it.
    2. That I will travel to at least 3 places I’ve never been to before (preferably overseas).
    3. That I will keep my HA1c under 7.
    4. That I will set up my indoor garden in our front yard shed complete with grow lights and have fresh-grown tomatoes year round.
    5. That I will be able to afford offices for Bloomers! (see #1).
    6. That the network we’re talking to will say yes to our t.v. show and do it the way I want.
    7. That we will have 500 subscribers.
    8. That the Bloomers! Schoolyard program will be in 420 schools next year.
    9. That I will able to meditate for 5 minutes without my mind going off on a bender.
    10. That we will contribute to the healthiest planet + healthiest people possible.

    Thank you! That was good to get off my chest.

  15. Hi Trish! I just don’t bother with resolutions anymore, but I do like trying to loose a gazillion pounds! I need to do that after I’ve had a chocolate milkshake! :)
    Thanks for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,
    shelia ;)
