My friend Jenn and her husband visited for a few days, which was awesome, because visitors motivate you to get out of your pajamas and out into the real world to do things. And believe me, that’s no small task around this house.
I was a little worried that going to the zoo in late October would just end up a giant bust, but tons of the animals were still out and about.
We saw penguins swimming
And angry fish
And lazy bison
And a swimming polar bear (that I probably could have watched all day)
And giraffes
And a very suspicious gorilla
And of course, my favorite animals of all
If you live in the Twin Cities area and you haven’t checked out the Como Park Zoo, I think you should get on that! It’s free (with a small suggested donation) and open all year round. I can’t wait to check it out again when the weather warms up and more of the animals are out.
What did you guys do this weekend?

I wish we had a zoo in Charlotte! We did make the 90 minute journey on Clay’s birthday to the nearest zoo and he loved it!

I love Como Zoo – been way too long since I’ve been there. Spent this weekend moving furniture and looking at appliances, and think I could have used a little time watching the polar bear! ๐
Your pictures turned out great! We had a fun time with you guys. I’m jealous that you have such a great zoo so close to you.

I wish I was the Jenn visiting you. And a free zoo? With legit real animals? (aka not Petsmart?) That’s awesome.

What a great day! I absolutely love watching polar bears swim and play. I’m guessing they were much more active in the cooler weather than they would have been on a hot summer day – your reward for getting bundled up for a trip to the zoo in late fall!

I love the Como Zoo! We used to live in the neighborhood so we used to go fairly often (even pre-kiddos). In my experience the animals (especially the wolves) were always more active during the cooler weather so it was typically more fun to go on a a cool but dry day.
What great photos! I love the giraffe ๐

I love Como Park Zoo…did you all go into the plants and flowers section? (what on EARTH is that called? A giant greenhouse?!) It’s beautiful. We were just there about two weeks ago, so I have to agree with you, the zoo in October is kind of weird. ๐
