On Friday (after another week of hiding inside from the cold) we were long overdue for a trip out of the house. I put on some clothes from the clean(ish) pile, threw my hair back into my finest ponytail holder, and off to Barnes and Noble we went for the third installment of our year of mom/son dates.
I thought it would be so cute if I let Wyatt walk around and pick out his own book. It really was adorable. For about 10 seconds. Then it was just a chaotic toddler tornado with books flying off the shelves and landing around him. How does he move that fast?
He was smart though. Never lingered too long around his latest sea of destruction. Acted innocent the entire time.
To think, behind that innocent face lies the heart of a destroyer.
I chased after him, cleaned up his trail of messes, and didn’t really get any of the pictures I wanted. But It was all worth it. Because when I set him loose and had to chase him down, I also got to watch him explore a new environment. And even though I only had time to snap a few pictures, I got to watch, in person, his face light up with happiness every time he found something new.
There’s nothing bad about that.

So sweet! I take Clay to the library sometimes and he loves it!

That is the same thing that happened the first (and second) time we took Avery to B&N. One of us just followed her, picking up her trail of destruction. But the huge smile on her face was 100% worth it.
A fun date for you two!!

So adorable. Fun idea!
So brave! I am still scared to attempt the library with my two. Seeing how fast they can rip entire shelves of books down in Sam’s room leaves me thinking that we should wait a few more years… 😉

You managed to get some really cute pictures, though!
I’m glad you had a nice date, even if there was a wake of destruction left behind.
