Week in Review 2014 {#1}

January 6, 2014      7 Comments

It’s baaaaack.

I’m going to start doing a weekly review again! {insert frantic applause here}

Week in Review button

I’m going to switch things up a little. No more daily play-by-plays of how I’m doing keeping up with the laundry (the answer is I’m not. probably never will).

I might just switch up the format every week. What can I say? I’m a wild woman.

So here we go. This week in my world:

Stuff I wrote

I wrote two whole blog posts.

  • Baby Goes Skating – which is mostly pictures of Wyatt in a pair of ice skates. You don’t want to miss that.
  • All Moms Are Working Moms – where I got a little passionate about the ridiculous war some women have going on about who works harder.

Stuff we did

You guys, it’s cold here. I’m talking a “real feel” temperature of negative 40. Negative 40. We haven’t been going out much. But here are a couple noteworthy activities.

  • I remembered why I don’t go to Chick-fil-a on Saturdays! It was so crowded, but I had a good time with my boy anyway. He let me eat all his chicken while he shoveled fries into his face. Baby at Chick-fil-a
  • Do you know what happens when you throw boiling water into the air in subzero temperatures? Instant vapor! Instant vapor

Stuff we watched

  • Silver Linings Playbook. And my secret love affair with Jennifer Lawrence (I guess it’s not so secret anymore) continues.
  • Finished the second season of Continuum. It’s a Canadian time travel TV show that I’ve become hopelessly addicted to. And season 3 doesn’t start until April? Oh the humanity.

Stuff I read

  • A Cosmo from 2011, because, I don’t know why. And it was so terrible. You guys, why do we need tips on how to have hair that men like? Why do we need 5 pages on how to please dudes with our wardrobe? If you’re gauging by current standards, I’m really no feminist, but even I find it a bit odd that we spent generations fighting for our rights only to worry if a man likes the shade of eye shadow we put on this morning.
  • I started “Under the Dome” by Stephen King. Not even 10 minutes into it and already three people and a beaver have died. I think it’s going to be a good one.

How was your week?

    Love the recap! It is way too cold here. I haven’t left the house since Wednesday. So my week had been pretty thrilling. Avoiding laundry and dishes. And trying to beat my high score on solitaire. Wild times. 🙂

    Very in depth recap here! It’s only (ONLY) negative 15 or so in Missouri, but luckily we chose to go to Florida this week. We had one sunny day and now it’s windy and in the 40s, but we aren’t complaining, because we aren’t experiencing the negative weather. Stay warm!

    That picture of the boiling water vapor is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen! I’m glad you are mostly tucking in and staying warm and safe during this ridiculous cold spell. Also ridiculous: the San Diego weathermen making fun of those suffering below zero temps and complaining that it will drop a couple of degrees here (to 66 degrees ABOVE zero). WIMPS!!!

    It was super cold here as well….negative 45 with the windchill today! That picture of the boiling water is awesome, I’m almost tempted to go outside and try it myself! 🙂

    Brrr.

    I also love Chick-fil-a. Yum. I try to avoid it on weekends too. And the lunchtime rush.

    I liked Silver Linings Playbook. Jennifer Lawrence is pretty awesome.

    Yes on the cosmopolitan! Someone (the card got lost in the mail) bought me a two year subscription for my birthday in September. I read half an issue. Now they’re piling up on my coffee table :/ I’ll take a target gift card next time, please!

Welcome!

Welcome!

Hey, I'm Trish (and that handsome dude next to me pretending he doesn't want his picture taken is Wyatt). Welcome to my blog! I'm a single, homeschool mom living the introvert life in Southern Michigan. If you're into Chinese food, Netflix, stretchy pants, and leaving the house the least amount possible, we can probably be friends.
