Our Easter {2014}

April 20, 2014      11 Comments

Happy Easter

So, I’m sick again. The day after we got back from our trip I came down with some flu-like illness that totally knocked me on my butt. I suffered through that mess for a few days, only to emerge with another cold! Apparently my immune system decided to take an extended vacation. Anyway, I’ve been pretty miserable. But today is Easter and I was determined it would be a great day.

We started off with Easter baskets. My sweet mom still makes us all Easter baskets. I think she always will. I’m okay with that. And of course she and Ryan’s mom loaded up Wyatt’s with lots of goodies. But what does he see first? His new big boy cup. Which he promptly tries to take a sip out of.

Easter

When we stopped laughing, we filled it with water for him.

Ryan put the bunny ears on, probably hoping I wouldn’t take pictures. Or at least hoping I wouldn’t post them. Heh.

We did a lot of sitting around while Wyatt explored his new stuff.

Easter morning

But we got in on the action every once in a while.

Easter playing

The biggest hit of the day though? Plastic food from Grandma Sandy. He loves it.

Plastic food

I’d had big plans for getting the tripod out and taking pictures of all of us together today. But seriously, no one needs to see how I look right now. So I took 500 pictures of just Wyatt. The bow tie was a source of contention at first. But he warmed up to it.

He didn’t even fight us too much when we put the bunny ears on him. An Easter miracle.

After lunch and a nap, we went “hunting” for eggs in the backyard.

Toddler Easter Basket

And by hunting, I mean we pointed out every single egg to him. Otherwise he wasn’t interested.

And where was Dewey during all this, you ask? Rolling around in the leaves. Getting dirty. Generally being a dog.

Shih tzu

At one point Wyatt went over to the door and sat down. Actually, he backed up to the door. From like 10 feet away. I don’t know. I’ll never know.

And this is the point where my picture posting is bordering on excessive. But I can’t stop. Because, just look at him.

Plus, it’d be a crime if I didn’t show you him talking on his brick phone.

Toddler Easter basket

I don’t know who it was, but I don’t think they had good news. Total meltdown occurred after they hung up.

Toddler tantrum

Don’t worry, he cheered right up when I gave him a stick and told him I thought the call was for him.

And there you have it. Our Easter.

Did you do anything special today?

haha! Omg he is so cute Trish! LOVE his little Easter outfit. Hope you are feeling better. I hear that Reeses eggs can cure JUST about anything, so you better have a few (bags) just in case it’s true. Also, I kid you not, Steve’s current phone is called the Brick and looks strikingly similar to Wyatt’s.

Haha, I always take borderline excessive pictures of my kids. No, not borderline, just excessive. But hey, they’re not gonna be little and cute forever, right? Hope you get to feeling better!

Great pictures. You have such a beautiful family! We didn’t have an Easter egg hunt this year, but I hope to next year when our son will be a bit older and enjoy it more 🙂

Our Easter was great and we were SO thankful for the warm and sunny weather! We went to church and really enjoyed worshiping the Lord!

Hope you are feeling 100% soon!

SO CUTE! And it is completely fine with me if you over post pictures (and of course hilarious comments to go with them). Clay was not all about the tie. Or me buttoning the top button of his shirt. He WAS all about the candy and toys though.

My mom still gives us Easter baskets, and I hope it lasts forever too. My fiancé’s parents made fun of me for it, but I wasn’t ashamed.
